About Me

Danielle McDermott, MA
Certified Yoga Therapist (CYT)

Danielle was first introduced to hatha yoga in 1994 while living in California.  In those early days of her practice, much to her surprise, she found herself experiencing emotional releases on the mat as her body moved and stretched through the poses.  This had a profound effect on her and ultimately led her to combine her long-standing interests in psychology and yoga into an approach for healing the mind and body simultaneously.

In 2003, Danielle earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University of Santa Barbara, CA, and in 2005 she completed over 650 hours of post-graduate training and certification as a Yoga Therapist through Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy in Massachusetts.  She currently has a full time private practice in the Marine Building in downtown Vancouver.

Danielle’s therapeutic background includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Rogerian Therapy.  She has experience with anger management counseling, domestic abuse and rape crisis counseling, art therapy, guided imagery and other relaxation techniques.
